Group of Numerical Methods in Engineering
School of Civil Engineering (E.T.S. de Ingeniería de Caminos, Canales y Puertos)
Universidade da Coruña

INTRODUCTION

Degree: Degree on Civil Engineering Technology
Course: Third
Type of Subject: Mandatory fourth-month
Teaching hours: 4 hours per week (6 ECTS)

Professor in charge: Iván Couceiro
Other Professors: José París, Diego Villalba, Andrés Fernández

Objectives:

  • To know, understand and apply part of the construction methods that allow solving numerically some of the most frequent mathematical problems in Civil Engineering.
Academic Organization:

  • During 4 hours a week, theory classes are given and previously proposed practices are solved.
  • In the facilities of the School's Computing Center, students must solve a series of application problems, for which they have to prepare one or several FORTRAN programs as course work.
  • Throughout the course, tests are given in class to monitor the knowledge acquired by the student.
Evaluation system

  • In the student's evaluation, in addition to the scores obtained in the exams, the grades of the course work and the completion of the follow-up tests are taken into account.
